If God IS Judging the U.S.,
How are Other Countries Faring?

Bizarre weather! Nor’easters move counter-clockwise, but last week a clockwise-moving rainstorm dumped a deluge of rain on the Northeast which was already saturated by the remnants of a tropical storm that had moved up the east coast the weekend before. Bridges in Massachusetts and New Hampshire were taken out, and homes were washed downstream as some dams started to give way. Blizzard conditions in the Colorado Rockies in early October dumped several feet of snow a bit early even for that area. What’s happening?

There was a newspaper article the other day that said that tens of thousands of victims of Hurricane Katrina are still in hotels and that there is still no way to tell when they will get back into their homes.

In Israel tens of thousands of Israelis displaced from Gaza are still having to pay the mortgage payments on their homes and businesses that were destroyed, and now they are being turned out of temporary lodging with no place to go and no money to help them pay for another place to stay. The Israeli economy is suffering because Gaza produced 70% of all the kosher fruit and vegetables and much of what was exported.

The question has been asked "Ok...if Hurricane Katrina has been a judgment on America for our government pushing Israel to divide the land, what about other nations? What are they doing and how is God judging them? And what about these other storms?"

Well, according to David Wilkerson in the September 28, 2005 edition www.worldchallenge.org of the Time’s Square Church Pulpit Series, Reverend Wilkerson talks about the recent Supreme Court decision ruling that the Ten Commandments cannot be displayed in any government courthouse and that there are sand-blasting companies actually grinding those Commandments out of the marble or concrete in courthouses. He goes on to say: "The awful fact is, ungodly forces in our society have rejected God. All mention of him is now being removed from our schools, our courts, our public institutions. And soon these same forces will attempt to outlaw the words 'One nation under God' from the Pledge of Alliegance."

I believe this madness will not go unanswered for long. I’m convinced God is going to act quickly. Take for example what has happened in Europe recently. Last year the European Union tried to force a constitution that blatantly rejected God and defined Europe as secular. The decree failed, but those spearheading it will surely be

back; they won’t give up until the name of God is renounced through all of Europe. They have made their intentions clear, stating in essence,"Let God have his heaven. Give us the earth. Keep religion out of our faces."

The fact is, if you don’t want God in your midst, He doesn’t simply go away. Consider what has happened in Europe since that constitution was introduced. Germany and France face massive unemployment. Welfare costs are soaring. Governing bodies are paralyzed and there is incredible confusion all around. Yet these are only the beginnings of even greater fear and chaos to come upon any people who reject God outright.

Related to this, Christian churches are closing at the rate of two per day across Europe; and in many cities, mosques are replacing them. Islam is the fastest growing religion in Europe and anti-Jewish sentiment is growing. Attacks upon Jews in France have grown in both intensity and in number so that last year, several Rabbis were openly encouraging French Jews to immigrate to Israel enmasse.

The immigration of Morrocan Muslims has been blamed for the attacks upon Jews and all Europe seems to be affected to some extent or another by these immigrants. Can open persecution of the Christian minority be far behind?

In addition to social and financial problems that are growing worse, Europe has had its share of wild weather too, which we generally don’t hear about through our major news services.

How about the tsunami last December? Many reports came back from Christians, usually published in denominational magazines or news briefs, that stated that in areas hardest hit by the tsunami, Christians had been suffering severe persecution by the local Muslim populations. Yet Christian survivors were the first to respond and give aid to their persecutors.

Interestingly the government of Indonesia pointedly and publically told Israel that they did not want the aid that Israel was mobilizing to send. How sad that their anti-Jewish hatred was such that they would rather let their own citizens suffer and die rather than take aid from Israel.

It is not generally reported, but militant Muslims have been attacking Christians in Pakistan for years, and the violence has spread to Northern India with not just Muslims but also militant Hindus attacking Christians.

The entire underbelly of the former Soviet Union is Muslim where persecution of Christians is intense and the poverty of those nations is evident.

Just as I was ready to submit the final draft of this article, my editor told me that the Russians are sending advisors and tanks to Gaza. So? Has anybody read Ezekiel 38 and 39 and Isaiah 17 lately? Look for something to befall Russia and Syria soon!

Africa, too, suffers. Saudi Arabia, which is the harshest against any non-Muslim religion seems to get off scott free. “Seems” is the operative word. God is not mocked. Whatever is sown will be reaped. They have sown to the wind and they will reap a whirlwind. It is only a matter of time. Perhaps God is just waiting and will cause a large enough earthquake along the African Rift Fault that will drain the oil out from under Saudi Arabia to another nation?

Far-fetched you say? Well, the Red Sea splitting was just as momentous an event and just as seemingly impossible and yet it happened, and it doomed the entire Egyptian army including the Pharoah who had persecuted the Jews.

Turkey, a formerly Christian nation that was the site of the seven churches of Revelation, is now a Muslim nation. While it was a very modern nation in comparison with the other Muslim nations, things are changing. Up till a few years ago Christians and Muslims got along well, but lately persecution has increased there too. And this week it was reported in the newspapers that bird flu has been detected in Turkey "at Europe’s doorstep".

Can Europe be far behind? With all the airline travel, what about the U.S.? Let’s face it, this world is growing old, and all creation is groaning with the strain. But Y’shua said that when we see all these things coming to pass, we should look up for our redemption draws nigh.

In the meantime, we need to be redeeming the time. The Bible says that we should work while it is yet light for the darkness comes when no man can work. A Hebrew calendar day starts at sundown. Thereafter, the daylight fades quickly. If, as Peter says, one day is as a thousand years in God’s timing, we are in the area just after sundown in the 7th Millenium and just prior to the darkness falling over the land.

We need to roll up our excuses and get to work winning souls by using the signs of the times to jump start conversations about Y’shua.

Anyone who wants a free parchment copy of the Ten Commandments ,call 1-800-435-8850. Jerry Falwell printed up a million of them in the hopes that people will order a copy and display it in a prominent place.
