Is Barack Obama a Christian?

Chicago Sun Times Cover with Obama by David Wyper

Barack Obama, in the Chicago Sun Times endorsement of his candidacy for president says this: “I am a Christian. I have a deep faith. I believe that there are many paths to the same place.”

A Christian would not believe this. A Christian will not believe this. A Christian cannot believe this.

In fact, the only thing that makes a man a Christian is this: A complete and total faith and trust in the completed, finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

I wonder, when Barack stands face to face with Jesus, if he will have the integrity and self-assurance to look Him in the eye and say, “Sir, you are a liar.”

Jesus said, “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life, and no man comes to the Father but by me.”

  1. Wow, thanks for clarifying some things for me with these three excellent articles. I am from IL and always knew Obama was as far left as you can get, but I didn’t know he was trying to pass himself off as a Christian. Thanks for setting me straight on that one.

  2. Remember. Jesus gave the criteria for those who would follow Him. As Mr. Wyper noted, Jesus said He is the Way the Truth and the Life. No other way. No multiple paths. Martyrs are STILL giving up their lives to hold to this truth. We in America don’t like to suffer, and we don’t like anybody to preach/remind us that we may face what much of the world is facing (martyrdom) for naming the Name of Jesus.

It became popular during the Carter administration to be “born again”, but let’s go back to Biblical definitions and don’t let the politicians define what being a Christian is. We have seen enough disappointments in politicians that we should be DOUBLY wary, and we should realize that our only hope is in the L-rd, not Washington, D.C.

PRAY, vote, and then keep our eyes on G-d.

  3. Been reading more on this subject…what I want to know is this…this man says he’s a Christian, but was born to a muslim dad and had a muslim step-father. Couldn’t we conclude that perhaps his mom was muslim? don’t muslim mommies and daddies raise their babies to be muslim, too? When did this conversion take place? Won’t the muslim relatives expect free reign of the white house, too, if we put this guy in here? if that doesn’t bother anybody, fine, but it kind of worries me, and that they seem to be dishonest about. And all this business about using his middle name–aren’t barack and obama muslim names, too?

  4. Nora,

If you would take time to actually read, you would realize that He was never with his Father (As he was in Kenya) and actually went to a Catholic school.

I am not saying your opinions are wrong, but I think you may have taken his statement out of context.

I believe He was merely saying that many different denominations have many different religious ways of doing things, whether that be the actual church service, outreach, community, etc.

Jesus is the only way to God, but there are many different denominations that lead to Jesus.

  5. Brandon,
To use your wording, if you would take the time to actually read, you would realize that what Obama said was, “I believe that there are many paths to the same place.”
You stated that you believe he was merely saying that many different denominations have many different religious ways of doing things, whether that be the actual church service, outreach, community, etc. This may be what you believe, but this is not what Obama said.
Obama’s “many paths” comment came immediately after his defense of his Christianity and his great faith. He was not distinguishing between denominations, he was distinguishing between religions.
Perhaps Obama even believes himself to be a Christian. He would be part of a great crowd of deceived and deceiving people who will be very surprised when they stand before Jesus and protest, Lord, Lord, before the King of Kings says depart from me I never knew you.
Just because someone believes they are a Christian, doesn’t mean they are. The worst time to find that out would be the moment after one dies. Whether you’re inclined to defend him or condemn him, we all need to be praying for Obama’s soul, particularly if he actually believes what he’s espousing as Chrisitanity.
There’s only one path. Let’s pray that all our leaders get and stay on it.

  6. Brandon, I hope you are still reading this blog–here is an article typifying what I have been reading about obama’s upbringing

He also said you shall be known by the fruits you produce in His name. Show me any fruits produced by Obama and then we can have a discussion as is he or does he desire to be a christian. Obama has been in power as a senator long enough to produce that would be pleaseing to our Great God and Lord, so show it to me. Or are we dealing with Polictical thrash that says only what is needed to please our ears to get a vote. If I had heard professions of faith prior to the need of it for polictical reasons, maybe…..now I don’t believe in what he is saying. Think long and hard for the price will high if he wins.
